To mark the 625th anniversary of paper production in Germany, the WEIG Group invited all its employees to Mayen. Over 800 visitors from 6 German sites and from Paraguay attended, and were greeted by brothers Moritz J. Weig and Xaver Weig in the name of the company's owning family. Various presentations and speeches provided information on the history of this family business and the Group's future orientation. Information stands of the individual business units Recycling, Karton and Packaging presented more information for visitors about the products and their manufacture. The WEIG companies from Paraguay and the new Weig Academy were also represented with presentation stands. It was a good opportunity for employees from different sites and departments to chat to each other. The "family event" was rounded off with a visit to the state-of-the-art automated high bay warehouse and the world's largest cardboard machine for plasterboard at the Polcher Straße site.

The people of Mayen and its surroundings were invited in the afternoon. The fully automated workflows in the high bay warehouse impressed young and old visitors alike. The fall protection brigade of the Mayen volunteer fire service demonstrated its skills and there were fun and games for the children, some but not all on the theme of paper. Lots of children created their own sheets of paper and took them proudly home with them.

The Weig Group presented itself as a world-leading manufacturer of recycled cardboard for packaging and plasterboard, a key regional recycling service provider and a Europe-wide manufacturer of cardboard packaging. WEIG is therefore also an attractive employer and a cutting-edge company for trainees.
